Once you start playing your favorite movie, TV show, or video, a convenient control panel will appear on top of the Safari player, allowing you to effortlessly manage your video streams. Notably, SmartPlay is the first Safari Web Extension to provide complete control over online video streams after its introduction at WWDC 2021 in June.

Setup Instructions

1. Open the SmartPlay app and click the button on the welcome screen to access the Settings screen. Then tap Safari (for iPad users, check the left pane) > Extensions > SmartPlay and toggle the switch to turn it on.
2. On the same screen, go to All Websites and tap Allow to grant permission for SmartPlay's extension to run on Safari across all websites. You're now ready to enjoy SmartPlay! You should see the overlay menu appear when watching videos on Safari.

Note: You can access the SmartPlay settings by tapping the "Manage Extensions" icon in your Safari address bar.

However, please note that you won't be able to access the overlay menu while your video is being played in full-screen mode on iPhone.

If Safari displays a notice regarding the extension's ability to read your sensitive information and browsing history, please be assured that this is a standard reminder for every extension. SmartPlay respects your privacy and will never read or collect personal information like passwords or credit card numbers. It is entirely secure to use.

The SmartPlay extension is compatible with Safari for iOS/iPadOS versions 15.0 and above.
